I... L... Y...

For those who wondered (or didn't know) about the I love you sign (mentioned in the 'Dude' post below), it comes from sign language.
In the deaf alphabet, the three letters that begin each word in 'I love you' are represented in the sign. The pinkie makes the I... the thumb and forefinger make the L... the thumb and pinkie make the Y... so all three fingers together make up I L(ove) Y(ou)!

It's the sign Ryan and I make when we're too far apart to yell it. It helps that she has glasses now, as she used to just think I was waving at her! ;)

There is a gang sign that is similar...it would be lovely if he was using the I Love You sign!

Well there ya' go, huh? I wonder if the guy in the truck thought he was making the gang sign that Ronda mentioned. Wouldn't that be funny?

Thanks for that Diane - will need to check out if it's the same over here my sister went to sign language classes (British one) I gather they are slightly different here.. I remember in the dim distant past I used to use a sign (kidding) with my Husband ... He didn't get the joke though.....

This is one of the very few things I know in sign language. I can do my alphabet, but if I ever need to communicate with someone deaf, I have to spell everything out, letter by dang letter. I never learned the signs for actual words. :) Can you imagine how long it takes to sign a sentence, one letter at a time?!
