Outside Is Cool!

Ryan and Sundance and I went hiking today. Outside! That non-bloggy person was right... outside is cool! Actually, it was downright chilly for a while but after a couple of miles, it warmed up. It didn't quiet down, however... Ryan talked incessantly. The. Entire. Time. Lordy, lordy but my kid can talk. Incessantly. For hours on end. I took her to Five Guys for burgers later, as she loves them (they are the best burgers in the world after all), and truly, the only time she shut up all day was when she had burger stuffed in her mouth.

(I actually meant for Ryan and Sundance to be in focus and the tree to be fuzzy... but you know how it goes. Well, if you're inept with a camera, you know how it goes.)
The rest of the weekend was good, too. Dinner with the Republican was really nice... he cooks a mean filet mignon (yum) and opens a great bottle of Pinot Noir (yummer). And so you all know, he definitely qualifies as non-date status. Here's the deal... I want my heart to race... I want to get those ooky feelings in my stomach. I know that sounds like the flu, but I also know every one of you knows what I mean. I want to break out into uncontrollable smiles when 'the' guy pops into my head at random moments throughout the day. I want that. I need that. And I deserve that. And no matter how nice and attractive and caring a guy is (and the Republican is absolutely all of those things), if the racing, ooky smiles don't happen (in the very beginning, anyway), the relationship qualifies as platonic. Which is the story of my life, unfortunately. If I feel ooky, the guy feels platonic... if I feel platonic, the guy feels ooky. Sigh.
Anyway, I hope you guys had a fabulous weekend! I know several of you never ventured outside, though, as I have 1,486 posts to catch up on...

You just keep holding out for the ooky. It's out there, you just haven't found it yet.

And have I mentioned that your daughter is completely adorable? She is and so is that beautiful dog.

One day you'll get the ooky and he'll get the ooky, and there will just be ookyness everywhere (oh, and flowers and delicious filet mignons). And, we ventured outside today, too!! So chilly but after bike riding for a mile or two, it becomes unbearably hot ... and I sweat. I just don't sweat, I SWEAT!!!!

Hold out for ooky love. It's well worth it.

Do you love Big Al in the ooky way or the platonic way? As his wife, I need to know this.

My daughter (age 13) talks a LOT. I'm so grateful for school days. lol
Your daughter is truly beautiful.

Mmmmmm...Five Guys! They are yummy! Now I'm all hungry.

And I believe in waiting for ooky ... but sometimes nice, stable, companionable, reliable, funny and smart are OK too!

Five Guys is def. the best hamburger, and the people that work there are so nice! I think they must get nice lessons like people at Chik-fil-e. When I get it to go, I have a very strict rule that I can only eat the french fries that stay in the cup inside the bag because otherwise, I'll eat all of them. Luckily that means everyone else I work with gets fries too! Yum! Glad you had a good weekend. I cleaned out my garage. Again. It's neverending!

Yup, we know what you mean about the ooky feelings. I want that for you too, you DO deserve it and you WILL get it. Confession - I still get 'em, but it might just be because... well, you know... google reveals. ;)

BTW, my 9 yr. old talks until my ears bleed and I have to ask for 10 minutes of peace. I say we throw them both in a room and give them a taste of their own medicine.

I suppose you'll be getting some burgers in so that you can have some peace and quiet?

Two people feeling ooky and in close proximity is...is...well, let's just say it is not pretty.

Or maybe pretty ooky.

I haven't read the other comments so I may be repeating what others are saying...if not then it's news!

Maybe you're thinking too much about the Republican. Maybe you're not letting what COULD happen, happen. Maybe 'love at first sight' is over rated. Don't give up on him. He obviously likes you...so...just let whatever it is grow a little and who knows where you'll end up! Jeez...don't you watch Lifetime??? :) :)

p.s. I like the out of focus pic. It's very artsy - I've done pictures like that on purpose! :)

Ooky is just the thing you need up front in a relationship, 'tis true, Diane!

By the way, my OH keeps toffees in his pockets just to shut me up occasionally, but I know you treasure Ryan's teeth!

Glad you had a wonderful weekend, and I thought the pic of Ry and Sundance was very artsy, so there! xox

Sounds like you had a great time!! And I know what you mean about the ooky smiles and the heart fluttering.. that stuff is important! I hope you find it soon. :)

We ventured outside for a hike as well! But it had the nerve to rain on us!

As for the Republican, don't worry. I think that ooky-inducing guy is right around the corner. So in the meantime, just have fun with this one and get some nice dinner and wine out of it!

You might get closer to the feeling you described with Mexican food and margaritas.
Well, at least we don't have to worry about a mixed marriage (Republican, really?).... for now.

here's to the oook....hold out for it!! I remain optimistic (despite my many failures) that there is someone to oook us all!!

the hike looks great - lovely trees in your neck of the world!!
