Happy Happy Fri-DAY...

Happy happy Fri-DAY! Happy happy Fri-DAY!

That was meant to be sung (chanted?) in the 'Conga Line' tune, in case you weren't sure.

It's Friday! Whoo hoo! I don't know why I'm so excited, actually... it's not like Friday is different from any other day for me. I work from home, in my pajamas, for crying out loud. And, truth be told, I haven't had much work in lately (which is not good but means I haven't been running around like mad). It's grey and gloomy out, too... though it's not as chilly as it has been, so I guess that's something, eh?

Anyway, it's still Friday and that's pretty much universally a good thing... so I'm going with it!

Sundance and I have been for our walk-cum-slog... our park is under 'eco-renovation' at the moment so it's full of construction machines, men, and muck. We plowed our way through the mud and then my boy decided to give me a 'hug', so my jacket is now brown. Dark brown. In places. Lovely.

Tonight is my niece Elizabeth's 10th birthday party... at the skating rink... where I will don 8 wheels and roll around like a 7th grader, batting my eyes at the cute boys and deftly weaving my way in and out of the slower, less-coordinated kids (like Ryan). Cool. Elizabeth is getting a hamster for her birthday. I'm scared Ryan will want one now. My car already smells like a hamster habitat (yes, I finally pinpointed the smell my big, wet, hairy dog leaves behind), so I guess having one in the house wouldn't be much different. We'll see. She's never been a follower, that kid of mine. She'll probably want something like a chinchilla. Or a mongoose. They don't sell those in pet shops, do they?

Tomorrow I have a non-date with the Republican, during which he's going to give me a camera lesson in the hope that I can figure out what at least 1/3 of the settings on the confounding contraption do. After, I'm cooking him dinner. I felt it was important to have the lesson first, you know, in case he's not feeling well later. I'm still not sure what I'm cooking, though. The man does. not. eat. vegetables. Can you imagine? None. I've never met a vegetable I don't like. Anyway, I think we're going to see Duplicity later. It doesn't look fabulous but I haven't had a Clive Owen fix in a while (and I'd watch the man sit still for 2 hours). Yum.

So, that's my weekend. Hope yours is lovely! Oh, and happy happy Fri-DAY! xo

Mmm Clive Owen.

I wish I could work in my pajamas. I have some kick-ass pajamas.

I've seen chinchillas at PetSmart. They're freaking adorable, plus you get the joy of touching soft, delectable chinchilla fur without the icky dead animal wearing part.

I'm wondering if you can just make the republican eat his words. That should fill him up just fine, and then you can Ryan can pick up some chili from Wendy's.

Have fun skating, and buy Ryan a ferret. If nothing else it'll give Sundance something to bat around the house.

I hope you have a great time!

Yeah, you know I totally meant you and Ryan can pick up some chili from Wendy's.

Why do typos insist on appearing AFTER I hit the publish button.

Actually Duplicity does look fabulous!!! I want to see it and I heard Clive is adorable and funny in it!!

Wait, or was that Julia Roberts that is adorable?

HAPPY WEEKEND CHICA!

How come that non date sounds like a date?

blueviolet said what I was thinking - how come that 'non-date' sounds like a date? ;) Chinchilla's are cool pets - I used to have one...I'm waiting for the Princess Nagger to get older before getting another one... ;)

Tabitha in Bliss said...

He doesn't eat veggies!! and Yes. I am SO aware that my princess gets her craziness from somewhere, but where could that be? I'm confused! LOL!!!

Your weekend sounds much more entertaining than mine.
If Ryan is tempted by a hamster, you might want to bring up the fact that they are nocturnal. This means that they want to sleep when you want to play and they run on their usually sqeaky wheel all night when you want to sleep. Plus they only live like 3 years so sadness is inevitable.
Good luck with the dinner. Does spaghetti sauce count as a veg?

Diane,

thank you so much for the universal wish of happy Friday to all of us (and thank you because I am in "us"). I think a ferret might do the trick, but I am with you on the liitle critters, less is more! At least you can it Clive if Ryan wants one. And my suggestio for hte Republican is......drum roll please........sushi! Fish rolled up in rice with kelp or rice roll with veggies already in it (sneaky sneaky) And who doesn't like sushi?!?!? C'mon, good fresh fish and veggies! Rice! soy sauce! and wasabi! top it off with a touch of ginger and a cold bevergae or a nice wine and WAHLA! great meal. darn, now I am hungry. Gotta go to the deli and get some Philadelphia rools. ciao!

And please pardon my typing skills today. I've been sniffing glue or something apparently.

Wishing you a lovely weekend too; and a lovely non-date with camera lessons and "sans-vegetable cooking". Just serve a good steak, I am sure he wil be glad.;))
Have a a truly HAPPY Friday, dear friend.;)

Well, that he doesn't eat veggies means your choice of 'secret sauces' is endless.
(as long as you remember to get the veggies out of the meat dish before serving.)

Clive Owen? Oh...the new movie with Julia Roberts?
I think that was Clive in something called 'Greenfingers' which was a great 'change for the better' kind'a movie.

OK OK all that aside.
In college our dean of the commercial art school mentioned that one of the reasons he got into commercial art was the Disney cartoon of an artist working at home...underwear and a robe.
I hadn't remembered it till he mentioned it, and haven't found it, yet (to rent...) but, ah...what a life, eh?

Of course, he also mentioned that it wasn't really true, as most cartoon comedies go...
Working in 'jamies' might be the ideal, but, I wonder how strac you have to look, sometimes.
('strac' would refer to a military term... Way better than normal, sharp, no loose ends, nothing out of place.)
(for sure you don't lose your teeth!)

Republicans use cameras? I didn't think they would because that only leaves one hand free to use their gun...

[Ha I really am funny aren't I? Mm, maybe not, and you know I'm just playing...]

I'm assuming that 8 wheels means it is not an ice rink, but that would be a laugh, wheels on ice...

Chinchillas rock... and you can get them at pet stores, but they are better socialized if you get them from a breeder who handles them a lot. Very cute, incredibly soft, and really smart. The down side... they probably will be with you until Ryan gets married and has children of her own.

How about julienned turnips and carrots tossed with a little olive oil and rosemary. Roast at 400ยบ for 25-30 minutes and pretend they're French fries. (They taste like candy...)

HAVE FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A Woman Of No Importance said...

No to the mongoose, unless you have snakes around the yard, and could you possibly tell Ryan that Sundance would think something as small and furry as a hamster was some kind of aperitif?

I am tempted to be really cheeky and say that it's odd the republican doesn't like vegetables, as surely you have to be one to have his political views??! But it's not big and it's not clever, Diane, and I'm English and therefore by genetics can't do sassy anything like as well as you, Bloggus Nuttus or Vodkamom!

Have a wonderful weekend, and conga on, friend. Be good! xxx

You all crack me up about the Republican! He's not the gun-totin' sort (I draw the line at that, unless you're a cop... I do like my men in uniform ;)... but the rest of the jabs are well-earned. Which is why, though of you who questioned the non-date status, we go on non-dates. We are too far divided on so many issues to ever come together as a couple. And yeah, I know it's possible for some people, but I want to be with someone I can talk to about nearly everything... we have a whole list of subjects that are off limits. And all that being said, he's still a nice guy and I do enjoy his company and our non-political/religious/social issue conversations... yeah... we talk about the weather a lot ;). Oh, and I think I'm making a shrimp and pasta dish... I'm going to sneak in some spinach, which he can pick out!

Diane said...

That should have read 'to those of you who questioned the non-date status'... it's Friday and I guess I'm out of spell-check mode.

Diane said...

Oh, and that's a resounding NO to the ferret suggestions. ICK. Those things give me the heebie jeebies... nearly as bad as fowl. Ryan's first babysitter had 3 of them and I used to have to steel myself before I could even enter the house. AND one of those nasty buggers gave my baby ringworm! ICK.

Plenty of scope there for a great weekend. Hope it is. Report back to us, ok?

Guinhyvar said...

That actually sounds truly fantastic. Waaaay better than my weekend, which is me reading fanny and her trollope and then writing a paper on it.

o. cannot. wait. til. i. am. done.

have an awesome non-date. and DON'T KILL YOURSELF SKATING AND EYE-BATTING. that can be rather... dangerous. not that i would know... or anything... just sayin'...

Maybe a mink?
Then, after...you know...God takes him away, you can get some gloves out of it?

Hi Diane, your Sarurday is just beginning and mine is just about over...just after 10pm here.
I hope you and Ryan have a great time at the party, gosh its been ages since I've roller skated, actually since I've done a lot of things. ;)
That non-date sounds like a great idea, no expectations no commitment, where do I find someone like that?
Enjoy the movie, I think Clive Owen is a great actor and cute as well, see I'm not dead yet.
Chinchilla kittens are lovely and so are Rag Doll kittens if youre looking for an indoor cat for Ryan. Have fun you two! ♡

Happy Saturday! I'm here trying to get caught up on my blog reading....

I am *always* happy on Friday. As I've gotten older, the weeks get longer and the weekends fly by. I cherish my Friday at 5pm when I can go home and unwind for two days!!!!

Comedy Goddess said...

You are brave to entertain a non vegetable eating Republican.

Enjoy Clive Owen, like that will be difficult.

Dang...tough crowd in the house tonight Diane.

I've learned to carry my gun in a shoulder harness, and my camera around my neck. That way when I put my gun back in the harness, I have quick access to my camera.

(Ok, I'm just being a smart *ss). I really don't carry a gun and camera at the same time. But I do like vegetables. ;)

I thought I left a comment here (I sneaked and read this from work yesterday) but I don't see it.

If he's a far right Rebublican, he'll probably eat the meat raw. I wouldn't even bother cooking it.

Yeah, we're known to devour raw meat.

I believe you that there is no love connection, but it does seem like he just keeps hanging around...

I feel the same way about Friday. It is just so ingrained.

And please please please post videos or photos of you roller skating? I'll make another donation to your cancer walk....
