I Wonder...

Empty. I'm running on empty today. And while I'd love to post about something interesting or exciting going on my own life, I can't. 'Cause there's nothing interesting or exciting going on. Luckily, thanks to Comcast news, I know there are things going on in other peoples' lives...

I just watched a report about this woman (and by 'woman' I mean 'greedy wench') who is fighting her soon-to-be-ex-husband in court. She's trying to nullify their post-nup, which would provide her with a 36 million dollar settlement upon finalization of their divorce. It seems that's not quite enough to support her $50,000+ weekly spending habit for long. No. So she's shooting for $99 million. Dollars. Ninety-nine. Million. Dollars.

Is it just me or does anyone else out there want to kick this woman? Just throw her down on the ground and stomp on her with steel-toed workboots? You know what I wish? I wish the judge would 1) laugh at her, 2) put her in jail for contempt of court and wasting his time, and 3) nullify the post-nup and then award her nothing in the way of a settlement. I know none of that will ever happen but that's what I wish. So many people are struggling to put food on the table right now... they're losing their homes... they can't afford basic medical care for themselves or their children... and she thinks she deserves $99 million simply because she married a wealthy man? Grrrrrr.

The news gets even sillier, too. A teenager in Florida was suspended from riding the school bus for 3 days this week. Wanna know why? He (allegedly) farted. The kid maintains it wasn't him, though he did smell it (as did, apparently, everyone else)... and you know the saying... the one who smelt it dealt it. The bus driver (and by 'bus driver' I mean 'the nasty old curmudgeon who clearly needs to get a life and a sense of humor') wrote in his report that the smell was so bad, the others on the bus couldn't breathe. Isn't that why they make windows that open? In a time when kids are getting beaten up on school buses... when they have to put monitors and cameras in them to keep unruly kids in line... when we have metal detectors in schools... a kid gets suspended for farting? Man, all I have to say is I hope Ryan never rides that old grump's bus.

I've never been a big fan of the news. I'm more the ostrich-type... stick my head in the sand and pretend all's well with the world. I get so sad and angry and frustrated when I read or watch it and I wonder what is wrong with people. I wonder why we just can't figure out a way to co-exist with one another... to stop judging and criticising and fighting. I wonder.

I think I'm going to start a new news network... the Good News Network. I wonder if maybe we all had the chance to read good news - even a little bit - every day, our outlooks might change. I wonder.

I know I just said this, but I totally do think we were separated at birth.

I don't watch the news much either, for all of the reasons you've listed and then some. It's just too depressing. I go to the internet for the important news and I click 'close this window' when I see something that I know will disturb me for the rest of the day.

And yes, the lady should be bitch-slapped and stomped with a boot. And yes, the bus driver is a curmudgeon.

I'll go into business with you on that Good News Network thing. Totally.

Hugs -

I don't watch the news either, but if you started the Good News Network I would SO watch!!

PS...The greedy wench and the bus driver need to be SLAPPED. I volunteer my services. :)

Ugh, I seriously cannot watch the news for this exact reason.

I am with you on kicking the post-nup woman. The only reason she should get anything is if she plans to give it all away. Every penny to charity. Or, you know, me.

Looks like I'm in good company!!

I stopped watching the news pretty much after my kids were born. I couldn't take seeing how much rotten stuff goes on in this world.

A Good News Network sounds great to me. People focus way too much on the bad these days. I think they forget what a wonderful world we have.

And yeah....those two defineately need to be slapped silly!!

Diane, the media loves the bad and greedy and the lowbrow, much to my chagrin - there is much scope for positive news stories out there - So many of us have given up on the Bad News Bears, same as dear Bloggus Nuttus, and pick and choose what we read and don't read! Excellent thought, thank you xox

Diane, I agree with you on every account; what a strange world right. Getting suspended for that kind of "natural" urge is a bit strange.;))
I too dislike to watch the news lately. Hey, at times I even remember fondly the communist era, when everything in the news was perfect and positive.;))

I'm hating reading the news more and more these days. Doom, gloom and in the words of Woman of NI "...the bad and greedy and the lowbrow..." It's very sad, but so very true. As for that bus driver, what an arse. He ought to come and live with UHugh and Henry for a while:)

I have stopped watching the news...I am almost 51 (yeah..Me) and it is a first but I just can't take all the gloom and doom!
I do wonder how much money the geezer has though...:)

I stopped really watching the news during the election was it was so...UGLY, and now I do have it on in the morning while I'm getting ready for work- just to catch up on the latest, but I really don't pay that much attention. I feel it raise my blood pressure and it's not worth it. I want to be somewhat informed though.

I'd rather blog!

It is usually good news, or at least REAL news about people you care about that are sharing their hearts. NOT asking for $99 million from an ex. .

And the farting thing? You gotta' be kiddin' me!

My boys would have had to drop out of school!

Man, spray some air freshener and crack a window like the rest of us do.

I just farted on the train...

Anyway, if you organise the stompfest I'll turn up in my steel-toed boots.

...Oh dear I'm being thrown off the train.

Hmm, you can stop watching or listening to the news people, but that still doesn't make the world any less full of dipshits. A better outlook on birth control would be a start though.

Oh my goodness, I hadn't heard the one about the fart. That's just ridiculous. Aren't we all innocent until proven guilty? And, I'm sure 'you smelt it so you dealt it' is gonna hold up anywhere besides the playground. What a crock.

And, this lady and her $50k+ weekly needs. Lady .... get a job if you think you deserve that much money. Most of America lives on less than $4k a MONTH!!! Let alone a week. ..... I'm ordering my steel-toed boots right about now. Where do we find her?

Diane said...

Anonymous (Alan) would be right... the world will forever be full of dipshits. We know it. So why bother watching them? Oh, and the people who need to have the "better outlook" on birth control are the very people who don't seem to know it exists. What would you suggest? How about state-ordered sterilization?

Or would that be Anonymous (Stu)? I might've gotten my Anonymi mixed up!

Yes... a Good News Network, please! Our news is so slanted now, anything would help. Just imagine the things that are going on in other parts of the world - things that we never hear about. Somebody chooses what we get to see and how we get to view it. Greed + violence = $$$$.

Getting suspended from school for a human bodily function is just horrid. How about, you know breathing!! Are they even allowed to do that these days??

UGH!!!!

well, as a person who has made upwards of hundreds of dollars a year, I gotta say, when i jump on that bandwagon, folks write me off as 'jealous' but, what the hey.
one million dollars equals $50000 a year for twenty years (which is a grand salary in a lot of eyes) but, every time I see where folks make multi millon dollar salaries and bonuses. grrrrr (and, to be sure, the US has over 700 billionaires, and a fair amount of them make five to twenty billion...)
In the end, when your wallet is empty, nothing is left?
And you hear of those fatcats being ever so bereft?
Makes you think to kick'em
or get the dog to sick'em
But mainly it just makes you think WTF?!
and still I feel sad for them.
Not really enough to pity them, though.
Just shake my head and wonderin'
How danged lonely they must really be, y'know.

(course, I could use some of that loneliness, myself!)

I'm with you ... stick your head in the sand. Ignorance is bliss. Suspended for farting? If they did that everywhere, my husband would be out of a job!

I heard about that court case! She claims she was bullied into signing the prenup right?

The farting incident is an outrageous waste of time.

I guess that's why they say no news is good news. There's always news.....

I rarely watch the news or tv for that matter. Too negative and depressing.

I never heard about being suspended for bus farting. Get a life, people!

Hi! I saw your blog on Le Musings of Moi and stopped on by...

I wish I had a $36 million post-nup. Ah well... maybe that's part of why she's getting divorced -- she did it all for the money. I think it's hilarious too that some kid got kicked off the bus for farting. I feel bad for him and hope he digests whatever it was that caused it. (The embarrassment is probably the worst part :) )

I am totally WITH you on the Good News Network. I would watch it/read it/love it every day.

Those are pretty crazy stories you read about, saw, heard. ... I have some good work boots. Who really EVER needs that much money? It makes me sick. When I think of good people I know living on like $23,000 per year and someone is asking for $99 million? There is just no way to relate to that.

And the bus...... WTF. That's my swearing for the day.
