Falling...

I love the seasons – all of them – and I could never live in a place where they don’t change. How dull would that be? I’m almost always happy for one season to end and another to begin, as the dawn of each new one tends to make me feel that all things are possible… well, that lots of things are possible, anyway. And each season has its own special appeal. Here are some of the things I love about fall…

Sleeping with the window open and being able to snuggle under the blankets...

Sundance’s new lease on life in the cool temps, so I don’t have to drag his butt around the park...

Magazine ads for cozy sweaters and wooly coats...

All the mosquitoes finally die (yeah, bite me, PETA)...

Sitting around the fire-pit on chilly Saturday evenings with a glass of wine, bundled in a sweater...

All the new television shows premiere...

Fall festivals and wine tastings and ‘arts and crap’ fairs and wine tastings...

Raking leaves just to watch all the kids in the neighborhood jump in them...

Cooking homemade soup (I love me some soup!) and eating it with warm, crusty bread...

Driving along the Skyline Drive and oohing and ahing at the patchwork of warm color that replaced acres of green velvet...

I love it all… the colors and the smells and the sounds and the dark evenings and the crisp air… knowing it’ll be gone too soon, so I have to enjoy every minute of it…

So, what do you love about fall?

It all sounds wonderful, in my part of Australia there is a marked change in the seasons but not what you are experiencing there, for one thing I don't get snow here.
Many of the leaves change colour here, there is a definite welcome crispness in the air with the cooler temperatures, the wind lifts up the coloured leaves and swirls them around, the sunsets are beautiful and the suns sets lower in the sky giving everything a golden glow.
I love snuggling up in my bed with the window open,no humidity, warm sweaters and jeans, hot homemade soup, warm and cosy on the sofa reading books, more gallery openings, there is so much to enjoy, along with Spring it is my favourite season. ♡

I love your optimism! Everything you list is truly magical; except here fall means you close the windows in the evening.;))

My favorite part of fall is being able to have the doors and windows open without being too hot or cold and not having to worry about flies. And being able to wear jeans and a t-shirt with overheating but still needing a sweatshirt in the car just in case.

The crisp mornings, not turning up at the station sweating like a crazy horse. I also love having the window open, I sleep so well in the Fall.

I'm sorry. You lost me at "seasons." What are they again???

What's a coat?

What's this cozying up to a fire you speak of???

Hmmmm! Looks like I will be coming to Pigsknuckle SOON! I hear you have the color ORANGE on your trees!

i like the smells of fall ...the spices in the kitchen when it's cool enough to bake....the earthy smell when we turn the garden over for the winter.....the soups and bread baking....and SWEATERS! oh, i love the SWEATERS!

only 2 more months before we get our fall...it's still in the 90's here.

i DO miss real dramatic season changes, but even here in southern arizona, the change is noticed....instead of the air running all night, you just cool it down a bit, then turn it off so you can listen to the coyotes...you can actually work out and run outside in the morning....another month or two, and we can even wear leggings instead of shorts then :-) i do love this time of year, but yeah, leaves changing and bonfires....i am with you!

We had an awesome seafood & italian sausage soup last night for dinner with crispy bread sticks. Yummy!

I love fall to. Especially for the new fall lineup on TV (:

Cool nights, warm days, still a chance for a tan. Love it!

Fall means the return of House and Always Sunny in Philadelphia - how can you go wrong?

I guess the cooler weather is an upside as well.

I love breaking out the sweaters too! Here, though, it'll be another 6 weeks or so I think before that happens...
Next month's 5k that I'm running has a wine tasting afterwards - that had nothing to do with why I chose that particular race. Really.

I know this is your blog and all but I have to say that I think I prefer calling it "autumn" - it just sounds cosier.

Bright, colourful, crisp days that don't cover me in a sheen of sweat are always a bonus for me...

Just the other day, I went to grab a fleece from my closet and I almost fainted with joy!

Diane, make the couch up, I'm coming on over - What do you mean, I'd have to share with Bloggus - No way! I'm a big girl - We wouldn't both fit on the couch - I'll help with the soup, I promise, and I won't hog your lovely sweaters...

Pretty please??!

(Meanwhile, I love the colours of Fall - The crisp air, the damp leaves and woodland smells and the sunshine in the mornings... I love having any excuse to snuggle back under the covers and read at weekends - peeking out at the golden light...) xxooxx

I've written a post nearly identical to this one. It will be up in a few days. We think alike.

Yes, you are welcoming the seasons with a beautiful list of activities.

We have two season, both mild/temperate. A dry, sunny season when the temperatures reach as high as 70F. and a wet season, when sunny days are scarce, temperatures reach as high as 59F and the winds and the rain keep us mostly indoor.

So... if I'm reading these comments correctly, Fhina, She, and I will all be coming to Pigsknuckle to sleep on your couch. Would it be all right if I just slept in the garage or something?

What do I love about the fall ... read your list and then add in "dressing up for Halloween" and seeing all the trick or treaters.

Living in Southern California, "fall" doesn't really have the same feel as it does back east but here's why it's still my favorite season:

World Series!
Football season
Chill in the air
Get to use the fireplace from time to time.

Blognut,

We're gonna go get her, remember? And get a nice hotel with a spa or something like that!

You don't have to sleep in the garage!!! Right? Diane!

I'm ready for bon fires and hot chocolate and carving pumpkins and apple cider and FOOTBALL games and fall festivals and the county fair and... well, you get the picture :)

Your list is pretty concise. I can't think of a thing to add except pumpkin and/or indian pudding ice cream.
