November is National Novel Writing Month. Did you know that? I'd heard about it somewhere (and thought it a bit odd, truth be told), but I looked it up and found out there's a real organization sponsoring this event! Check them out at nanowrimo.org. Their goal, as far as I can tell, is to get as many people writing as much as possible for a month. You sign up and commit to writing a 50,000 word (175 page) novel between November 1 and November 30. They don't care how crappy it is, just that it IS! It's all about the deadline, baby! I find I work best under deadlines... I totally suck at directing myself to do anything within sensible time frames, so I figure I'm going to give it a shot. There's an idea that's been rolling around in my head for a while and this might just force me to put something down on paper... errr... on computer screen. Want to join me? If anyone would like to sign up, do it and let me know! We can be writing buddies!!
Oh, PS... their website is INCREDIBLY slow today (hopefully not always)... so be patient.

Lemme think about it for a sec....
I suppose 'cut & paste' is out of the question?
Frick or freak! Brianna says. I say I'm-a-gonna-write-a-frick-or-feakin-novel-witchu. Well, not with you, just at the same time you are. See, you're already life workin' it! The para-di-jim, she is shifting!
JCN... they'll never know...
Mel... seriously? Are you? Cool!!!!
Diane, you should so most definitely enter this contest! I will be happy to be a "taste person", if you can say that in English.:P I mean someone that you can bounce any ideas of.:) But considering that English is not my native language, nor have I ever had any schooling in writing, I would be a lousy writing buddy.
But I am sure you will find inspired writers in all those other avid followers of your lovely blog.:))
Holy crap, that's a big commitment. You should definitely do it though, I like your writing style.
wow? is that even possible (?) is what I'm thinking (and I mean on top of a day job, two dogs and the holidays??) ha, I don't even have kids and I'm afraid. But, actually, that boils down to 6.48 pages per day if I start today. :) Maybe that's the way to just get it done, but I am thinking I'm a little afraid of what might come out of my brain to fill the 175 page requirement - especially if I am experiencing "writer's block." BUT.... it's a great thought, and I will go check out the link!!!
