Novel Costumes and Adventures...

Because it was Halloween and because I have a kid, I felt obligated to post the requisite costume shot. How creative (and cheap) am I? Cute, huh?

Also, I did sign up for the novel-writing adventure for November. So did my friend Mel, which is cool, though we both have overgrown procrastination genes... I sense a lot of arse-kicking going on. Heinous considered joining me in this little creative endeavor, but he's opted to go the slacker route (such a lazy, lazy man ;). Anyway, I'm going to post a word counter down the left side of my blog to keep track of my progress. 50,000 words in 30 days means about 1,700 words per day (I think... I did the math last night, when I was a little drunk). I'm an edit-as-you-go kind of person, so it might be ambitious for me, but I'm going to give it my best shot! If I'm not where I ought to be, feel free to kick me as you see fit. And if you want to sign up, too, I don't think it's too late! The link is in my "So You Want to Write a Book" post, below!

What a cool costume!! Way to go, makes me crave jelly beans now.;)
Good luck with the novel writing, I know you will do well.:)

I didn't understand what they were until I read the words "jelly belly" and started laughing.

I'm also trying to finish NaNoWriMo for once, we'll have to see how that goes.

Oh, crap! 1700 words a day?! What did I sign up for? I mean, I'm sure I speak more than 1700 words a day (ask my co-workers!), but writing? Tools, Word Count (and that outline I've been working on)...will you be my friend? Re: the goddaughter's costume...I thought you had put her arms inside the "bag" at first and I was wondering how she was going to hold her trick-or-treat pumpkin, but then I saw the little white elbow.

Oooo good luck! I can't wait to read what you write ;)

Ryan is TOO cute in that costume! SOO creative ;)

Ahem...yes it was a TOTAL brain fart moment!! My bff called me and was all "SHANNA! You posted her real name!" LOL :) She fixed it for me since I wasn't home ;)

I think it's funny that you're the only one who noticed tho!

I love the costume. Very orignial! you can only see so many Princesses and batman costumes. Way to go creative mommy. I made Pacman and Ms pacman costumes to wear to work.

Very creative, though I have one reservation. Is it wise, turning up on doorsteps as your own treat? "What? You have the biggest bag of jelly beans I have seen and you want MORE?"

Good luck with the novel. I will respectfully decline your offer to join you, being more the brief and spasmodic poetry type.

Hey, kicking you in the butt is going to be enough work. That and I have that threat hanging over my head if I don't post on my blog every day...

We only had one visitor - a boy from around the corner, for some reason carrying a hockey stick. I think the trick could have been lumpy. Good luck with the writing.

Dear Superior Scribbler: Sorry for the "canned" and unrelated nature of this comment, but I wanted to get to as many of you tonite as possible. One of the things that we at Scholastic Scribe are most proud of is the Silly Sunday Sweepstakes. Several of you are already familiar with the arbitrary and quite inane weekly attempt at humor...for you, and for those of you who have not yet played Sx3, I urge you to drop by Sunday to see what's up. Oh, and congrats on being named a SS. You earned it!

Great job on the costume!!! After twenty something years of doing halloween costumes (first Heather and now her ten year old brother),I think that's one of the most original ones that I've seen.
Your daughter is really a cutie, makes me almost miss that age with Heather. Almost.

Very cute!! I noticed Mama said it "almost" made her miss that age with me. Yeah...I was not so much fun to be with back then!! Ah, well...you live, you learn. You grow up. :)
Good luck with the "writing a novel" thing!! I started one last month and never got past the first chapter. Too many ideas swirling around in there. They aren't translating to paper very well yet.
