Grrrrrr...

It's Wednesday night... time to post my writing assignment from Kathy over at Mama's Losin' It. Most of the prompts this week required me to 1) think a lot, and 2) be creative, neither of which I was up for tonight (it's been a rather sucky few days in Diane World... the real Diane World, that is, and not Bloggy Diane World. It's always sunny and warm in Bloggy Diane World, thank God, or I might just staple my own head to my desk and light myself on fire). Anyway, I picked the easiest one there was...

Ten of My Absolute Worst Pet Peeves

Note that these are things which simply irritate me (albeit severe irritation... sort of like you'd feel after squatting to pee outside when you're camping and then finding out a few hours later you squatted in poison ivy and you wind up having to scratch your butt all the damned time for like a week, even in public... yeah, like that). I didn't include things I really hate (you know, like bigotry, child abuse, adultery, puppy-kicking... that's another post entirely). Anyway, here they are, in no particular order...

Lazy people who don’t/won’t clean up their dog’s poop at the park, even though there are poopy bag dispensers at every entrance and all a person has to do is tear one off and stick it in her damned pocket and then, when it’s full, walk it less than 10 feet to one of 542 trash cans that line the walking trail!

Stepping in dog poop at the park because of lazy people who won’t pick it up or who pretend they can’t see their dogs in full poop-stance, all hunched over and dropping a load, when I can see it from across the park.

Lazy people who don’t/won’t put their shopping carts away in the cart-corrals and instead, leave them in empty parking spaces or just sitting in between 2 cars, ready to do the whole ‘roll and dent’ thing. I seriously want to load those carts up with bricks and then slam them into the lazy peoples' cars at full speed.

(Are you getting the feeling that lazy people irritate me? I acknowledge the fact that it's pretty hypocritical of me, given how lazy I am, but hey, I ask you - who among us really fully understands his/her own psyche?)

People who drive at or below the speed limit in the left lane, especially if they’re riding even with someone in the right lane. It’s called a ‘passing lane’ for a reason, slowpoke. Do it! NOW!

When I refresh my blog page and it says I have 2 new comments and I get all excited, only to find out that stupid Blogger posted the same comment twice and I really only got 1 new comment (which is great and all, of course, but it’s not 2, is it?). And to clarify, when I said "stupid Blogger" above, I didn't mean the actual blogger writing the comment... I meant BLOGGER, as in the host for all these blogs, 'kay? I realized how that sounded!

When I’m in line at the store and it’s taking an infernally long time, so I move to another, quicker line, and then that line slows down, and then the person who was behind me in the first line gets to the register before I do. (And it happens to me a lot!)

Email ‘forwards.’ Hate ‘em. And I especially hate it when they are the only thing you get from a person. Like it would kill them to jot a little, ‘Hi, how are you?’ note once in a while!

When I see my little Yahoo ‘you’ve got an email’ star thingy and I get that Dopamine high going, and then I login, all excited, to see who it’s from… and it’s SPAM.

Bad grammar. Lordy, lordy. I got me some issues with bad grammar.

When two of my favorite television programs are on at the same time. It’s not like I have that many so it shouldn’t be too hard for the networks to spread them out a little… I mean, really, how difficult would that be?! If only they’d consult me. Sorry, what did you say? DVR? Tivo? I can barely set my alarm clock. Ain’t happenin’, people.

That's all. Thank you for letting me vent.

I hate it when people don't pick up after their dogs, being a dog owner myself. It makes us all look bad.

And, just to make you smile, this really IS a second comment...much better than a double-comment or getting Spam in your inbox.

Well, so sorry!!!! I took my (non-existant) dog to the park, let it poop all over the place, didn't clean it up. Then I drove 5 miles under the speed limit in the left lane to the grocery store, where I just pushed my used cart into the empty space beside my car. Then I commented on your blog and deleted it so it looked like you had more comments, but you really didn't. Then I sent you an e-mail (did you get it?) about that man from Nigeria who needs access to your bank account to hide some money and you can have half of it just for being so helpful. And, finally, I saw that VH1 scheduled Rock of Love Charm School and Pickup Artist 2 back to back. I know there you're too favorite shows. ;)

I went for things that go beyond pet peeves but your list made me smile, especially with how many we agree on especially grammar and people who leave shopping carts all over the parking lot.

I was lazy on mine and just used pictures, so I'm a hypocrite too.

Let me just say "sorry" about the grammar! You could have given birth to my daughter! She will argue comma placement heatedly with a stranger in a restaurant! This isn't an analogy but rather a horrible memory of a night out wiht her!
She gets so angry with me...she says she will delete my blog!
She is a stuffy English major...kidding she is wonderful...like you are! I am doofus who doesn't care! I do pick up my dog poo though! :)

FWIW, I picked up a shitload of dog poop today in my own backyard. It rained so didn't get it on Sunday per usual.

I hate email "FW:" and I delete almost all of them without opening them.

But I like you and this is a cool post! Thanks for sharing... I also like the fact that you wrote that the bloggy world is always sunny. How true! Enjoy the sunshine.

Diane, I agree with them all! I particularly hate when people in cars do not pass in the left lane and I always seems to be changing into the WRONG line in a store; that gets me seriously going mad.:)

DITTO ditto, and DITTO ;) Although, it's a list of things you hate, I loved the list! ;)

Love your list. Like you, I am lazy about some things, but the REALLY lazy people tick me off. Especially the cart thing. When I was working at WalMart in my college years (that sounds so long ago. It was like last year...) ANYWAY, they'd send me in the parking lot AT NIGHT, IN THE DARK, BY MYSELF to go collect carts if the buggy pushers didn't show up for work. It's a pain in the butt to walk all over the lot trying to get carts together, especially on a humid July night in south Alabama. Come on people, be considerate!

Okay, I'm guilty of the shopping cart thing, not because of laziness, more out of frustration from the whole "Wal-Mart" experience. - The line jumpers. The shoppers who leave their carts in the middle of the shopping isle, making it impossible to go around them. The ones that seem unfazed by their screaming kids even though you nearly jump out of your skin with ever shriek. The fact that there are two cashiers working and twenty "do-it- yourself" lines, even though theres no discount for doing it yourself, etc...
Anyway , now I feel guilty and I'll think of you next time and return my cart. :)

Nice list! I hate when people leave their carts sitting around. I always walk it back to the store or the cart holder. Surprisingly my friends make funny of me for this.

La Pixie said...

omg, Im a FREAK about the grocery store carts! my Boyfriend is willing to just leave them in an empty spot, but I have to get out and put it in the little stall. its not difficult.

Ashley said...

So, I'm one of those horrible people that will leave my cart somewhere && here's why. My child generally goes in the car prior to me unloading groceries if the weather is bad [super cold/hot or snowy/freezing rain/rain]. It is against state law to leave a child unattended in a vehicle. I will circle once and if I can't find a spot next to one, chances are my cart is going in front of my car.

That's a good list - I so relate on the dog poo thing. Except I get dog walkers who let their dogs poo right in front of my house - by my rockery and where I park, as if I will never notice it. I want to spy some time, see who is doing that, save up all the poo from my two dogs for like a month, and then follow them home and go deposit it all right in front of THEIR house and see how they like it. Bother me much? Hmmm, yeah. And some lazy person left his cart AGAINST my car, while he's sitting in HIS still, eating because he apparently couldn't wait to get home. This is when I got the lecture from my boyfriend about not parking next to pick-up trucks with broken windows. Noted.

I liked you list... I agree with the shopping cart, I have kids so I try and park within a close vicinity to the cart corrals, I hate when there is a great parking spot only to find shopping carts stuffed in it.

It's great to see so many people venting because of this prompt. Your list was excellent and so very funny. I liked its editorial nature. My list was very straightforward and unfunny. Hope your comment/email situation improves. (I have a feeling it will after this post...)

Now I'm confused about the whole passing on the left - I'm a Brit, we are easily confused. Don't get me started on the whole 'road etiquette' thing, I will be here for hours. OK, excuse the language for a sec...bad drivers - f**ing wankers!!!
Loved your blog as usual.

Peace and Love.
