Be Careful What You Wish For...

You know how I've been mentioning for weeks now how I'll be so happy when spring finally arrives and it warms up around here? We've had a few nice days but it's been downright chilly of late. Frustrating, really, when April in Pigsknuckle is usually pretty nice (manure funk aside)... balmy, breezy days in the high 60's to the low 70's are usually the norm. Well, except maybe for April 25th, waaaaaay back in 1960, when it got to 90 degrees. Hot, huh? Yup... it was a record. A crazy, white-hot, sweaty record. Yeah.

Yesterday, on April 25th, 2009, it got to 91.

Zero to summer in 3.2 seconds.

It felt even hotter today.

The lesson here?

Yeah.

Be careful what you wish for.

Can't even begin to say how sorry I am to hear of your heat wave.

I can't even begin to tell you, because I love the heat.
However, I will thrill you with another small bit of trivia that may or may not have bearing on your immediate days....
Grass grows strong, fast, and hardy in cool temps.
58-68 is prime grass growing temps.
Tell ya what, our yard just finished with three rainy days, interspersed with Sunlight, almost all from 50-70, and that equates to running both mowers (one of which we had to have repaired, first) and tomorrow, too.

But, probably as soon as the temps reach 80, the grass slows incredibly. 85 it stops growing, and 90?
...well, that part isn't so good.
Most times that describes fungi's best growing session.
And, on golf courses, that means extra fungus chemicals, and we just saw that thing on TV,
so...I dunno what to say.
I'de love your heat, sorry but your golf courses are about to kill some more water life.

It was a warm weekend here, too. But very windy. I was grateful to be outside.

Hope you and Ryan enjoyed yourselves.

86 in Massachusetts. I loved it! Well, except that I had a 9 mile training run and it was a little hard with the sudden surge in temperatures. I had to walk twice.

91!!! I love that! Well, I love it when I'm under no pressure to do anything too terribly strenuous... like, move. :0)

I always look forward to summer, but then sit grouchily in the shade when it arrives, sweating and moaning.

That's exactly what I was thinking the other day. I complained all winter that I was cold and now I'm complaining that I'm hot. I need to make up my mind!

I KNOW! That front room where we have Cori set up to work (the one over the garage with the half-finished floor?) is like an oven. We're trying to figure out how to close off that room and still give us both the privacy we want. It's sucking all of the cold air from the AC and I DON'T LIKE IT!
