Randomosity...

I know it's not a word. Sue me. I've got an idea for tomorrow's Writer's Workshop floating around in my head but I need to clear out some random crap before I can get to it. Oh, yeah, and I need to do some work, too. Anyway, randomosity first...

1. You know how I say that 90% of the time, Ryan's a joy and 10% of the time, I want to kick her butt into tomorrow? Yeah. Well, this morning fell under the 10% banner. Rotten little turd.

2. I don't put gas in my car until I'm lurching forward on fumes. And yes, I know it's bad for my engine. My dad gave me that lecture. A lot. In fact, one of the last things he said before he died was, "For God's sake, fill your damned car up when it's at a quarter of a tank!" I've actually run out of gas. Twice. Both times in my own driveway. But it's been 20 years since the last time. Knock wood.

3. I don't like to talk on the phone, which is weird, given how much I like to talk. I think it's because when you talk to someone in person, you can have little pauses and they don't seem awkward. But when you're on the phone, you have to fill up every second. I don't need that kind of pressure. When I'm under pressure, I say stupid stuff. Stupider than normal. And yes, I know 'stupider' isn't a word either. Sue me. I also don't like voice-mail. Because it obligates me to call people back. So I disabled it on my phone. I can see your number on my caller ID. That's all I need. And if I see your number but I don't recognize it? Don't even expect me to pick up. 'Cause I won't. Ever.

4. I have 8 pillows on my bed. And I use them all. Seriously. I make a nest and sleep in the middle of it. It's comfortable. And comforting. And I sleep alone (most of the time), so it's not an issue for anyone else. Except Sundance. And he has his own pillow. Number 9. At the bottom of the bed. I also have to have a cover over me at all times... though I always have to have one leg sticking out (unless it's really, really cold). But no part of me can hang over the edge of the bed. Ever. EVER. The monster who lives under my bed might get me. You know (you know you do). And I have to have a fan going, summer and winter, for white noise. Or else I simply cannot sleep. And now you know all my bed habits. Well, the sleep-related ones, anyway.

5. One of my favorite shows ever is The Office. But I was an Office snob at first. See, I got hooked on the UK version with Ricky Gervais before NBC did its usual copycat thing. The UK version was good... soooooo good. And because BBCAmerica broadcast it right up until the NBC version started, I refused to watch the new one. I knew it couldn't be as good because 1) our copycat shows are never as good, and 2) British humor doesn't always translate well in the US and I figured the show wouldn't last. I was wrong, of course (as I often am). It was my friend Mel, who was one of the few people I know here who really 'got' the UK version, and who is also a huge fan of Steve Carell, who told me to watch it... that I wouldn't be disappointed. It took me more than a year (I had to distance myself from Ricky Gervais... you know... like how I took 2 years after my split to start dating again) but I finally gave in and reluctantly watched a couple of episodes. It took about 4 and I was hooked. It's not the same... but it's good. Sooooo good.

That's all the random crap I have for today. Now, on to work crap. Later, 'gators.

LOVE the Office (British version) too!
I like the Office (USA) okay but I compare them constantly!
Ricky Gervais is so very good!

You scare the crap out of me sometimes.

1 - Absolutely. Ryan and The Boy are in the same moon cycle right now or something.

2 - 100% exactly the same - only I have a digital display in my car that tells me how many miles to empty and I wait until it says zero (and then I may send Brian to get a loaf of bread and beg him to take my car, but don't tell him I admitted that). I HATE GETTING GAS!

3 - Me too! But I'd talk to you if you called... for a minute... and then I'd probably tell you to email me. (Love you!)

4 - YES TO THE NEST! YES TO THE FAN! YES TO THE LEG STICKING OUT OF THE COVER THAT MUST BE THERE! NO TO LETTING ANYTHING HANG OVER THE BED, 'CAUSE THERE'S A MONSTER UNDER MY BED, TOO!

5 - I do get British humor, but I don't watch TV.

I have laughed so hard at this today!! You are very clever and humorous my friend!

I love the office, but never saw the UK version. My fan has to go all through the year as well and my foot has to be from under the cover. (especially when I'm flashing) :)

I loved the Office. Did you like Extras? Incredible.

8 pillows is too much, I have 1!

I am a total talk your ear off person, too, but like you I cannot stand being on the phone! And, I'm a weirdo about my gas tank, too. I came home from Oklahoma yesterday and Joe had used my car and left it on empty with the gas light on. I about died. I thought maybe my car would die on the way to the gas station. I'm a firm believer in the 1/4 tank fill-up.

I HATE to get gas (in my car or otherwise) and sadly, I've ran out of gas MANY times- and NOT in my driveway!

I can now sleep without the fan, but was hooked on it for many years. It drove big Al CRAZY!

Due to too many thriller movies as a teen,
I don't like body parts hanging off beds either. (Yeah, that's what She said)
which brings me to:
The Office. LOVE it. But I'm not much of a TV watcher, though the show is brilliant. Never saw the UK.

I prefer email to the phone, but I love to talk to people I've never talked to before (just to hear their voice- hint, hint).
I also never answer numbers I don't recognize.

My kids are grown, so I don't have as many days where they drive my nutzo anymore- I just miss 'em.

Happy to join in on your randomness.

I'm completely okay with "randomosity." Makes perfect sense to me!
I also NEVER answer numbers I don't recognize. My mom fusses about it all the time - she says, "It could be important!" Well, if it was important, I'd already have their number, right?
I also NEVER let a part of me hang over the bed, and always sleep with a fan (two actually - the ceiling fan and an oscillating fan - but I don't let it oscillate... if that makes sense) Gotta have the noise and the coolness. Can't sleep in silence, and definitely can't sleep if I'm even the slightest bit hot.

I found The British Office cringingly, awfully painful to watch - It felt so real... but I loved it. I do like the actor in the US version, but haven't seen it as the scheduling here is always calamitous on any satellite channel - They muck about with it all the time!

Sorry to hear Ryan is having a 10% day - Still, you know that the real Ryan is only just around the corner again... Love to you, precious D x

i used to run our of petrol nearly every week when i was younger- groan and yes, i am all for making up words that fit when others refuse to..........ive never watched the office, not a fan of the TV, but honey, if this is your random clearing out post- its still 100 times better than some of my stuff............bosh ( thats a word I made up- dont know what it means !)

I didn't know that was bad for an engine. Wow.

The Office is phenomenal. You're right.

Your rotten little turd probably won't be one tomorrow!

Thanks for a very interesting post, you always make me smile.
I loved The Office, havent seen the American version yet, Extras as well.
Have you seen the British series Life on Mars it is great too, you have an American version of that too.

Lol, 8 pillows and a nest that is really cute.
I have three, I sleep alone in a single bed and I always have to have one leg out from under the covers, though most times I have no covers at all.
The fan is usually going as well.

I would rather speak to someone in person or e-mail them as those moments of silence on the phone seem like forever and I then I say something stupid and embarrass myself...especially if its a male I'm speaking with. :/

I never let my tank get below a quarter as I have ran out of petrol on an expressway out the back of nowhere due to a faulty fuel gauge and it was very scarey.

I know you didnt ask for all of this info but I thought I would tell you anyway. :) ♡
