I'm Not a Twit...

OK, well, I am... but not all the time. Not when it comes to Twitter. To everyone who has sent me those 'S0-and-So would like to follow you on Twitter' messages, I'm not ignoring you. OK, well, I am ignoring you... but not just you. I know I set up a Twitter account (about a year ago, before I really knew what it was, at the urging of a bloggy friend) but I've never used it. And I don't have any plans to start. I really do believe you can be too connected and, for me, Twitter crosses that line. The truth is, my life simply isn't interesting enough to comment randomly about throughout the day. And, to be (painfully) honest, given some (and by 'some', I mean 'nearly all') of the Twitter notes I've read posted on many blog sidebars, most peoples' lives aren't interesting enough to comment randomly about throughout the day.

So, while I thank you for your interest in my stunningly mundane existence, and while I love you all and look forward to reading your very interesting and funny and touching and thought-provoking blog posts daily/weekly/monthly/whenever the hell you decide to get off your butt and write something, I'm no Twit. Not that there's anything wrong with it...

I have a Twitter account, but I don't think I've updated it since i was sleeping in a tent in the woods during a thunderstorm. Somehow, it seems wrong to Tweet from a tent in the woods...

Well said. I'm an anti-Twit-MyFace-SpaceBook Grinch. I do not get it. 'Course, I don't even get cell phones and texting, do we really need to be that much in touch!?? I don't want people to know how I waste....er, spend every hour of every day!

Oh, and I like your S-U-M-M-E-R plans! Sounds perfect!

Perfect. I am a twit, but like Facebook, I rarely bother with it anymore. Usually, if I use Twitter at all, it's first thing in the morning.

No one is so interesting that they need to update the world with their comings and goings. :)

I am so with you on this one! I too have an account there, which I have had for about 2 or 3 years, before I knew (or the world knew) what Twitter was. But I do not think I can even remember my nick or password.:P I admire those who can update the world of their activities each hour or so. My life is too boring for such updates.;))
Although I think yours is anything but mundane.;)))

You are SO right when you say most people's lives are not that intersting. I just never understood the Twitter thing. I have a hard time understanding why people are interested in reading my blog - which I only update a couple times a week. Multiple minute-by-minute updates would be unbearable.

I totally agree.
I signed up along time time ago because a sweet friend asked me a jillion times to do so, but I have have not once twittered a message...and I don't follow anyone's messages.

I'm also not that interested in a minute by minute, play by play, one sarcastic one liner after another to read/respond to throughout my day.....really. I do have a life. And I enjoy it twitter free just fine thankyouverymuch!

I see it more as a teenager thing.
I could understand why my sons would enjoy it, but I am too busy with life to sit and twitter in between all the things I'm already enjoying. (Namely, people I can touch feel and see.)

The blog world is already borderline consuming for me, and I'm trying to limit myself there.

I don't crave that much interaction.

I do have a twitter account and use it maybe twice a week to promote my mission and the missions of other fabulous organizations. I care not to know that someone is eating eggs while typing a blog post, but I do find twitter a great tool for promoting positive groups.

I guess I'll just have to stop impatiently and relentlessly hitting refresh on your Twitter feed...

I don't even know what twitter is. I'm just not good with all this kind of stuff.

Well, thank you. This is a great idea, and I need to incorporate it at my facebook place.
I joined because I was invited by some good people.
Met a lot of other good people.
Found out inadvertantly that I had friends on facebook.
They send me things like Easter eggs, Bunnies, Thie and Thats, but, I am afraid to download anything that says it's going to open my account to unknown masses and then KEEP it open as it deems necessary....no. I think not.

But I couldn't figure out how to tell them I wasn't just dissing them...
Now I realize all I have to do is post a comment on my 'page' and they'll understand.

....or not....

Ha! I had to come over and check this out after the comment you left on my blog.

Resistance is NOT futile, after all. Good to know we are not alone on this.

I'm with you ... I'm no tweet either. I do have a situation over at my blog though and it's right in line with your blog post. Come on over and give me your 2 cents. ;)

I've avoided the Twitter temptation as well. God knows, I waste enough time in Blogland (again, not that there's anything wrong with that).

I feel I MUST say something only because I recently re-opened my Twitter (I too, signed up about a year ago then promptly quit again) BECAUSE I figured out a way to have my Twitter update my Status on Facebook (which I also avoided like the plague until a few months ago when my moms group all started joining and now I have a little social life on there ... and since I refuse to pay for a data plan on my phone AND my carrier doesn't support Facebook, I Twitter to update. Then I had the brilliant idea that I should put the Twitter back on my blog so my bloggy friends would know I'm NOT dead despite the extremely erratic posts lately!

*WHEW* THAT was a mouthful. LOL so I hear ya...but it CAN be fun if lots of your peeps are there too ;)

I actually just caved and became a Twit. I'm still on the fence about it though ... mostly just list my giveaways and what I posted about. Not sure why though. I also like to look at celebrity tweets ... I'm shallow that way! I bet I quit within a month though!

Couple months ago I went to twitter because it was getting sooooooo much praise and mention in blog world.
I opened an account, browsed around for about an hour. Signed out. Came back two hours later and cancelled my account. Am not impressed.
A blog is just fine with me :-)

I'm not a twit, either. I can barely keep up with blogging! :-)
