Honest and Truly...

I got tagged with another Honest Scrap Award by Hebba at JeepGirl17 last week. It dictates that I tell you 10 (more) interesting truths about me. You guys already know a whole lotta truth about me (‘interesting’ is debatable)… but here’s a bit more…

1. I always wish on stars and at wishing wells and fountains… and when I wish at wells and fountains, I always throw a quarter in because I figure it gives my wish 25x more power.

2. If there is such a thing as reincarnation (and I’m quite open to that possibility), I am certain I was a homicide detective in a previous life.

3. I’ve never owned an automatic car and I don’t expect to until I’m very old and my creaky, arthritic knee can’t manage the clutch anymore.

4. My dream home is a 1,000 square foot cottage on an old, tree-lined street… my ex’s is a 4,000 square foot luxury model in a new golf course development… and that difference is indicative of how our views about so many things diverged.

5. I’m addicted to magazines. I read 8 to 10 every month.

6. I hate to shop and pretty much only do so when I really need something, but I love getting catalogs in the mail, especially Pottery Barn and Soft Surroundings.

7. I’ve been in love twice and I’m very much afraid I never will be again.

8. If I could be 18 again, I’d start college with the intention of obtaining my PhD in psychology and working with children who have suffered trauma.

9. I have a 21-year-old cousin in Australia I’ve never met – Alyce. We’ve been corresponding for about 5 years now and she’s absolutely amazing… brilliant, funny, insightful, caring, socially/environmentally/politically-conscious. She’s who I want to be when I grow up.

10. I haven’t felt like I’ve had a real home – like I’ve belonged anywhere – for most of my adult life. It makes me sad. But I believe I’ll find it, so I haven’t given up looking.

The more I know you, the more I like you! What a treat! Thanks for being so you here. And go meet your cousin! :) She'd probably take a liking to Ryan too!

More answers, more evidence of a richly complex and caring person.

I share your magazine addiction, among other things. I love decorating and food magazines, and I'm a total sucker in the checkout lane in the grocery store for those cheap ones that have a skinny girl on the front saying,"I lost 65 lbs. in two weeks by eating everything I want and never exercising!" It's not working. Don't fall for it.

You'd make a wonderful psychologist for children. And you seem to pay alot of attention to details around you so I can see you solving homicides for a living.

You're so easy to love that I can easily see someone falling for you, but for you to meet your match-that will take someone VERY special. Big AL is taken and he likes Harley D's, so he's out...

You are so freakin' cool! You are like a rose; more beautiful with each petal that opens.

Ok, it is official. You and I were seperated at birth. My dream cottage is on the beach instead of a tree lined street, I 've never had a real home as an adult, always make wishes, cried a little when I went from standard to automatic, and deep down inside am petrified I'll never fall in love again. We have a covalent brain!

Yeah, you were Shirley Holmes. And I was Dr. Juanita Watson. Actually that sounds like a fun story! Hmmmm....

* I've stolen a couple of things off your site today and I'm feelin' really guilty about it, so I've come, not to return the things but to ask your forgiveness and to ask that you remember as you read a few upcoming posts of mine, that imitation , and/or outright plagiarism is the finest form of flattery.

Whew. Now that I got that off my shoulders I feel much better.

So if your weedgit, feedgit, gidgit thingy was showing me lurking around, it's because I was lurking around. And taking a few things I liked. (So much to choose from, so little time.)

I absolutely adore you. And tree-lined streets.

A homicide detective in a previous life? Were you the crumpled crime-buster Colombo type or the twin-set Mrs Marples?

I used to live with someone who was very much a city person, whereas I can't spend more than a couple of days without green... so I totally understand your #4. I have my perfect home now, a little cottage in the middle of nowhere :)

Ok... first of all a homocide detective! Wow...how do you know??

Do you find yourself pulling out your magnifying glass at dinner parties... sorry i forgot for a moment that we live in 2009 and you're not sherlock holmes...

(Although how cool would it have been if you were Sherlock holmes? i can picture it now lol)

Secondly, you're definitely gonna find love again...or more correctly it'll find you... its looking for you right now... its on its winged way...and soon it'll sit down at your doorstep and say 'Mama' - sorry i forgot for a moment that this is romantic love we're talking about and not the stork bringing a new baby... what i mean is "Mamacita! ;)"

Love to you, M

My mum says keep looking, Diane, for your real home. She found hers three years ago when she moved to France. She may lose it, eventually, but she will never forget it. Dreams do come true, sometimes. xxx

Don't be afraid, my lovely... :)

You'll find love, you'll find your home, you'll be a detective in your next life maybe :))))

Diane, although I feel I know you quiet well at this point, this s always a very refreshing post.;)
You know how much I can relate to your last point; no one can understand that more.;)
And I firmly believe that falling in love, just like anything in life, happens when you least expect it.
With your mindset and your always positive outlook on life, I have no doubt in my mind that it will happen for you again.;)

Diane, you have a wonderful and brave (not driving an automatic over the pond where it is de rigeur!) spirit, one which will find peace and love, because you do attract beauty and calm (the dream house), and curiosity (Diane (Sherlock) Holmes and Child Psychology), and creativity (magazines/books/wishes on stars). Plan the Australian trip, pref while Ry is recordering, and perhaps you might find your dream there, if you don't find him at the dating, I mean, male book club? Love and light to you xxx

I am pretty confident that a woman as wonderful as you are will find love again and find herself feeling perfectly at home somewhere. And since you have waited so long for that feeling, it will be that much sweeter.

Why do you always make me all sappy? Damn you!

Now that reminds me how I haven't even finished the magazines bought 3 months ago!

It's lovely knowing you little by little..

I tend to favor the smaller, cozier homes as well. Who needs all of that extra space? And I wish on EVERYTHING, too. With quarters in fountains. And when the clock reads 11:11. And when I run yellow lights. The more wishes you make, the more likely they are to come true, right?

I'm sure love will find you again. It would be too cruel to let that wonderful heart be all alone.

I am so with you on the magazines. I know better, and I STILL can't stop looking, reading, buying. Though I'm proud to say I did put myself on a magazine moratorium this year. Which is why I hurried up and just subscribed to a couple at the end of December. ;)

I liked your list.

I hope someone gives you an Honest Scrap award every day because I just love learning things about you.

And I'm curious about what magazines you read.

And I hate to shop too (except for books). But actually, I pretend I like to shop now so I can get out of the house alone sometimes.

Perhaps it is time for the recorder to suffer a little accident...

Is #2 because you like to watch crime solving t.v?

I have wondered at times how I would have faired as a detective.
